VACANCY – Assistant Maths Hub Lead: Primary

East Midlands East Maths Hub is one of 40 maths hubs across England being coordinated by the NCETM. East Midlands East Maths Hub is an approachable, inclusive, and supportive community which provides a research informed approach to mathematics education across all phases.  

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Assistant Maths Hub Lead (Primary) to support the strategic development of Teaching for Mastery across our region.

About the role

Temporary, one-year appointment (2026/27 academic year)

Working alongside the Maths Hub Lead and Leadership Team, the successful candidate will take a lead on elements of the Primary Work Groups and Programmes, supporting schools, trusts and Local Leaders of Mathematics Education (LLMEs) to improve mathematics teaching and learning.

The role will include contributing to strategic planning, supporting and developing Primary Mastery Specialists, building partnerships with schools and trusts, and helping to ensure high-quality delivery and impact across the Maths Hub’s primary provision.

• Has a strong track record of leadership in primary mathematics education.
• Has a deep understanding of Teaching for Mastery and maths professional development.
• Can work strategically with school leaders, trusts and system partners.
• Has excellent communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills.
• Is committed to improving outcomes for all pupils through high-quality mathematics education.

Time allocation

The Assistant Maths Hub Lead (Primary) role is funded for 16 days per year, commencing in October 2026 (initially for 1 year; to be reviewed in July 2027).
